Theresa Shimansky

About

Theresa Shimansky is the owner of a machinery and equipment appraisal company. She has over 25 years' experience as an accountant and specializes in business valuation and forensic accounting. Theresa holds a B.S. in Business Management and a M.A. in Organizational Management.

Theresa is an Expert Equipment Certified Appraiser, Master Certified Machinery and Equipment Appraiser, and a Certified Senior Business Analyst. She is a member of the Institute of Equipment Valuation, National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts, NEBB Institute, and Society of Business Analysts.

Ms. Shimansky moved to Keego Harbor in 2011 because she wanted to live near the lakes. She had fond memories of coming to the area during the 1980s, and so she decided to look for a home here.

Theresa started serving the city of Keego Harbor in 2016 when she was appointed to the Planning Commission. She served as vice-chairman for her last year on the commission. In 2018, she decided that she could be more effective as a City Council member and ran for office.
She was elected that year and began her term in November 2018.

She represented the council on the Zoning Board of Appeals and was also on the steering committee for the Gibbs Planning Group TIFA district study.
